Student’s role in a diverse environment

Education starts from home.

Some students’ behavior may reflect their parents’ perception of individual from different cultural, and socioeconomic background. Parents that respect different culture will have conditioned their children in behaving the same way. When parents discriminate other cultural groups, their children, too, will be hostile towards certain racial group(s) that may manifested in unfavourable behavior such as polarization, discrimination, bullying, etc.

We would like to create and sustain an ideal collaborative learning environment where students from diverse culture mingles harmoniously, accept and respect individual differences, willingly lend out a helping hand to any fellow in need without racial and gender bias.

What can you do as a teacher to eradicate the unhealthy practice and involve students from different ethnic groups and all walks of life to establish brotherhood that is emotionally binding instead of segregating?
